Just a few thoughts I've yet to get down.
-What mostly led me to believe this was Chip wasn't so much the hair or the letterman's jacket. It was Charon's false "signaling". Clearly the kid is in high school, though we don't know if he's actually 18 yet (any younger in most American states and that's statutory; 16 is legal in some, so I hear). I never believed Charon was going to jump him because we've not seen an instance where she'd would sleep with a guy that was 18, almost 18, etcetera. Sure, there are women who would do that, but she hasn't exhibited the behavior that she would go so far as to sleep with some teen doofus. But, since she's not interested in serious relationships, some COULD argue that would be an ideal candidate. That's another discussion altogether.
-Good points were made about Charon getting away with turning Chip into either breathing silly-putty or vulture chow. However, with enough evidence, the local police force may get over some embarrassment. That is, if she DOES go through with it.
-I could see her instigating Chip into through the first swing, his adrenaline forcing a bit of selective amnesia to the fact the woman before him is not only an angry mother (which nature proves can be volitale alone), but one with a big freaking steel wrench designed to make OTHER metal objects subserviant.
-My Prediction: She'll slowly (perhaps violently) turn "Hotshot" into "Jaam", taking the engine apart, putting in a few dents in the chassis, and telling Chip the same is his fate should he even think about considering to look at Becka ever again for the rest of his natural life.
-My Prediction 2: She damages the car just enough so he can drive it to another mechanic's shop, but still be traumatic and..."educational" for Chip, then telling him his money is no good there.
-My Prediction 3: Three words - spontaneous face combustion.
