as far as myself? hmm.. if i could be any supervillain, i'd have to be Deathstroke the terminator... i don't read many comics, but you have to admit that Slade was a bad assed idea.

And you know who Deathstroke's son was? Jericho baby!. Turns out Jericho actually took over Slade and was trying to kill of his old teammates because starting up the Teen Titans again would "endanger the lives of more kids." He took out Impulse's knee with a shotgun. Now I gotta go find that story run and re-read it...

Current celebrity? I'm not really sure that most of them would be worth meeting. Very few of them are people with whom I could have an intelligent conversation.

Celebrity from the past? Definitely would have loved to meet Katherine Hepburn. She was a strong female in an era when that wasn't terribly popular. I would bet that she would be a lot of fun to talk to.

Same question, with caveat:

Which celebrity, alive or dead, would you most like to meet and why?

Celebrity is such a loose term. For example, a celebrity is defined as someone who gets media attention and most frequently has an extroverted personality. What media is never specified. But as I could sit here like my former philosophy teacher and be a total douce about things and dissect meanings and shit... I'd prefer to just answer the question, and assume a catagory. So which celebrity?

The late Mel Blanc, the greatest voice actor of all time. Just because it woudl be awesome to have a conversation with the man who single handedly provided the voices of almost all the classic Looney Tunes characters.

I honestly can say, that I don't care much ice cream. Strange I know being a chubby bastard, but my personal favorite on the rare occasion I feel like it is Turtle Trax (Caramel cups and vanilla ice cream). You can find it pretty much anywhere here in Michigan lol.

Since I have no good questions, NEXT

Celebs to meet:

Live: I'd say perhaps J. Michael Straczynski...get in his head. I'd say Layla Kayleigh, but the reason is too obvious. Rawwrr.
Dead: Red Skelton.

Ice Cream: My favorite I think is Hot Chocolate. It's pretty much chocolate ice cream with choco-bits and marshmallow pieces, but it's quite good. First had it a few years ago.

Next on the ice cream question.

Tillamook Marionberry Pie Ice cream. It's the only thing I really miss being on my diet.

Keeping on with the ice cream Q

It's rather dull, but I like vanilla. Two scoops in a big mug, pour in a shot of amaretto, top up with strong black coffee. It's why I own a fridge :)

And if I could meet a celebrity... oh, there's such a long list of folk who's brains I'd like to pick. I'd quite like to meet Jennifer Tilly, though I think I'd fail to speak to her and just stare at her in an unwholesome manner. She's why I watch late night poker ;)

Ok, here's a question I do want answering - what is your least favorite trope/cliche in fantasy fiction? This one's a professional interest question, so answers please!

The Invincible Hero. You know the guy that wades into legions of nameless foes and cuts them all down taking no/minor cosmetic damage. It's not very heroic nor interesting to defeat anything and everything with a minor amount of effort or risk. Heroics is all about doing something despite how risky or life-threatening it is. So imagine my frustration with R.A Salvatore ;)

The obvious Marty Stu (or Mary Sue)- the guy that's so awesome at everything and everyone who is not trying to kill him for being so awesome is completely and totally in love with him and he's all angsty because he doesn't know which one he should pick- why yes I'm reading Robert Jordan, why do you ask?

I got to book 7, realized NOTHING had been resolved, and stopped reading. I just didn't care. Oh, and I hated all the characters save one: Mat seemed okay.

Now for MK's question: I'm sorta sick of the elderly teacher getting the young hero started on his journey.

Just to continue my question (and answer it for other folk) my personal pet hate is an Anakin - a bad guy who's only bad because the world was really hard on him. My daddy abandoned me... my mommy beat me... a big lizard ate my village... I've murdered millions for my personal pain, so you should sympathise and understand me... wahhhwaaahhwaaaahh. Ah, shaddap. I love a villain who's bad because he likes it, and frankly doesn't give a toss about lives lost and cities burned; he wants it all because he can. No childhood trauma, he's just evil. Anakins as they stand are pathetic at best... it's why I loved Grand Moff Tarkin more than Vader - he kills billions just to show someone he's in charge. That's a bad guy :)

My other pet peeve is innefectual women - they're there to look pretty, make babies, and be a hero's emotional crutch/goal for his victory. The world needs more Aowyns - go stick it to the bad guys and while the pansy elf is elephant surfing (bloody showoff) you just go kill the toughest mofo on the battlefield. Women can be heroes too, not just the love interest or the plucky sidekick.

Those are my pet hates in fantasy novels - let's keep it rolling, what are yours?

Obviously there's a few, but I think the biggest bugger for me is the poorly veiled socio-political commentary. There's times and places for it all, but all too often in fantasy books, the writers seem to forget that they're writing fantasy. And I would pay some serious money if J.K. Rowling would just stick to writing and shut the hell up.
