Badmouthing Misty

Badmouthing Misty

Postby Cee-El on Thu Jan 24, 2008 5:18 pm

Did anyone else find it a little odd that Mr Snow didn't even raise the slightest objection to the way Lin-Lin was talking about Misty?

I realise that he probably has a pretty good idea of her flaws for himself, but even so ...

Personally, I think Jack knows his daughter isn't exactly "Dorothy Gale" here, but I don't think he knows just how far gone she is. I mean like I've said before, Chrissy is mean, but not evil. There's no reason for a Father to assume that their children would turn out to be the AntiChrist.

I think you're imagining the badmouthing, or you're going to have to point me in a specific direction of reference, or maybe read the comic again. All I saw was "I've been in her class for 10 years" and "Is this about Chrissy and the party?" None of which I see to be negative, or badmouthing in anyway. Am I missing something?

Well she did say Jack was as "f@#cked up as his psychotic daughter, and that she's rotten to the core."

Like I said... I must be missing something. I was missing that part.

All of it. I didn't even see it. Reading... too late... I blame that and the everything else.

I still don't think Jack is screwed up for letting linlin talk to him about his daughter like that... he knows she's right. He knows what a #$% Missy is to live with, and how bad her mom was growing up. Apple don't fall far from the tree.

Also, don't piss off a teenage girl if you can at all help it. If she's already pissed at you, try to fix it, or remedy the situation, less you want a kick to the balls real quick.

HEED MY WARNING!

Yeah I imagine he does at least have some idea of what Misty is like, but even so I would have expected at least a tiny "I say, steady on!" of disapproval. Blood is thicker than water and all that.

Not that I am really knocking Jack here ... I was just a bit puzzled by his lack of reaction.

Part of me believes Jack took it, if only in part, as teenage squabble. It's what kids do at that age. All the hormones and One Tree Hill and chocolate chip waffles. Messes with the equilibrium.

I remember in my junior-through-high school days that, at the time, I was certain if I came face to face with the parents of one of the kids that tormented me, I'd tell'em straight up, "you're kid's a creep". Whether or not they would believe me in this hypothetical and imaginary scenario is another matter.

Some parents won't believe their child did something bad, sometimes because they truly believe that theirs is a "good kid". Jack probably knows Misty can be a pain, but I doubt he's prepared for "your hellspawn planned a rape for a girl she barely knows". Christmas...I don't know how she'd react. I somehow doubt with any pride.

As my office firewall is preventing me from going back to the panel you're talking about - I'm going from memory here...

I saw it as Lin-lin thrashing out in a loud and violent rush of words. If I were confronted with a girl reacting that way I don't think I'd really process what's she's saying to me. All her words would run together and sound garbled. It's possible the same happened with Jack.

While Dave hit it on the nail, I'll elaborate only a little more, even though I've never watched the show. It's about a bunch of Mid-20's actors pretending they just got their licenses or hit voting age, get into and out of bed with people, and there's probably a lot of overacting. Just another oversexed "teen drama". While I'm not much of a Family Guy fan (anymore), they actually had a good gag about OTH in an episode this season.

Yeah. Teenage girls are like that.

...

WHAT?! They ARE!

Also, Jack could have taken it as stress, considering her best friend is a wanted criminal.

All your well reasoned arguments have convinced me and I recant any slight I may have been perceived as casting on Jack's character :)

The first season of One tree wasn't bad. After that though, bleah

Jack knows that both the women in his life are messed up(just not how much) And Lindsey is upset, He's used to dealing with upset women So he's wisely avoiding the topic.
I am here therefore I am, now where did the Rum go?

I think he was probably more concerned with keeping her away from his eyes than what she was saying, at the time. I mean God, she just... freakin' lunged at him. Looking back, I can't believe I was surprised when LinLin killed that Bloodwatch dude. I mean... half the comics she's been in have her emotions vaccilating between 'smiling cheerfully', 'scowling in fury', and 'crying', all in the space of a few panels. She's clearly been crazy from the beginning!

... Moreso than all teenagers, I mean.

The fact that her pigtails function like Harley Quinn's is also a dead give-away. :)
