As an east coast gal, I'd love to see team Shadowgirls at NY Comic Con and Wizard World Philly. And just to put it out there, Philcon has been improving their comic/webcomic track a bit each year.

I'm terribly jealous at everyone who gets to go to SDCC. It's been on my list for years but it just hasn't been in the cards. DragonCon is a FANTASTIC convention; I wish I could go every year.

D-Rod mentioned he'll be at GenCon. It's a game convention so I'm assuming it will be to plug Mythmakers RPG . I'll be there as well, so that's pretty cool.

GenCon looks to be on my schedule too, as Indianapolis is just a five hour drive from me.

I'll try to make the San Diego Con, but it's not looking too bright right now. I'll see what I can work up before July, though.

It's months ahead of time but I'm nearly set for GenCon! I wrestled with their game submission system for the better part of this morning and right now things are looking good. Now I get to wait for my games to be approved.

I don't kow if anyone else was there, but I have just now recovered enough from MegaCon this past weekend to be able to say it was a blast! If anyone was there, I hope you joined me and my group, Anime Sushi, for all of our activities on the third floor. We had a great time and thanks to everyone for coming!

Jennie sends her love to ShadowGirls, as well. She is such a trip! There were some amazing artists here as well as plenty of gaming opportunities and celebrity guests. Hope we can get ShadowGirls in on the action next year...

New York ComicCon is on the horizon! April 18-20.

It looks to be a Hellboy II explosion as Mike Mignola, Guillermo Del Toro, Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones are all going to be there. Pardon me as I take a moment and go into crazy fangirl mode. Guillermo Del Toro is one of my favorite directors EVER - especially all the Spanish/Mexican films (Cronos, The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth).

Anyway, am I the only US east coast Shadowgirls fan who'll be in attendance? I can't be.

New York Comic Con 2009

Postby spring on Mon Feb 02, 2009 3:46 pm

It's that time of year again. New York Comic Con is this coming weekend, February 6-8, 2009.

I have it on good authority that DRod will be at the con on Friday only.

Details will hopefully be coming, but there is a chance he'll be speding time at the Kunoici, Inc. booth (949) at points during the day. If this is the case, he'll be promoting Starkweather, but you can probably shake him down for info on the Girls too.

Are any fans planning on going to the con? Will someone be on hand to harass DRod?

Me and the Mrs were thinking of taking a trip to the States this year, but then the Economic crap hit the fan and the Aussie dollar crashed against the greenback.

If there's anyone in the states thinking of taking a trip to Australia. Now is the time. We're still in the warm months, the crash of our dollar means it's a cheap holiday and it hasn't crashed for long enough yet to send prices up.

Sydney is nice for the Opera house, Harbor bridge and a few other sight-seeing items, but I generally recommend Brisbane. Not just 'cos I live here, but it's warmer climate, It's got all the amusement parks (like Aussie World and Australia Zoo) plus you can take a trip out west to Emerald and Longreach if you're really up for checking out some of the outback with gemfields and old bushman's history.

Kevin and Kell (Bill Holbrook) is also at a large number of conventions all over the country, but a lot of the conventions he goes to are furry - not surprising, given the nature of K&K. ;)

I've been wanting to visit Australia again for sometime, specifically Sydney. I never had a chance to actually go to the Opera House, but I did get to see it from the ferry, and it was awesome to see. Toronga Zoo was just freakin' amazing, though I was a bit bummed that they had just recently disallowed holding the koala's, which I did totally understand why. I was just looking forward to it. Kinda funny... It was awesome when I visited there, as the U.S. Dollar was double that of the Aussie Currency, so it freakin' rocked. I was staying at a five star hotel for the price of a two.

Truth be told... I still often give serious consideration to moving there.
