I'm just going to bow to the whims of the Daves here and not make any more predictions because they're all going to be wrong.

But Lin Lin is too badass to kill! I hope you know that!

Hm...the possibility that Sawyer always had these powers, like Becka. Well, let's contrast and compare the two examples, shall we?

Firstly, both abilities (whatever Sawyer's are) have manifested in times of extreme stress and vulnerablity. Second, the aforementioned vulnerability came as a result of when initial, possible natural reactions to a situation failed, requiring something MORE to get the job done.

Our underage gal Becka is compassionate, forgiving, and peaceful by nature. And by physical comparison, she (sans edge) is no match for three football players. Her instincts are going to tell her that either words or retreat are going help. When running and pleading failed to deter a triad of pathetic rapists, she ass-stomped them with shadows. Greatest. Comics Moment. EVER.

Sawyer is a cop. He's probably come to grips with a great deal of stress in his line of work. He's likely gotten shot at, spit on, yelled at and possibly blamed for crap that was out of his control. Just because he's an officer upholding the law. In some way he's learned to not let most of it really get to him. Or perhaps he has a stress-relief routine.

The main question is, if he had this power all along, why didn't they manifest against Pinky and the Bean? The simple answer is just what he was told before he became their brief chew toy. His brain didn't know how to process what was happening. Humans were morphing into crab monsters twice his size. This is FAR outside the realm of his world; he didn't know how to respond. Will they even feel the bullets? Can they be reasoned with? When are they going to shut up? Before any of these queries are solved, he's comatose.

NOW, with Scarlip, he's bed-ridden, and his instinct of opening fire to save an endangered girl has failed. Further pain is inflicted, and Nosfaratu ain't being talked out of turning Lindsey into food or a minion or whatever. What's more, his brain has probably started to accept the supernatural, so while he may not fully understand this new element, he's learning what will NOT work against them. Thus his powers and abilities, however part of him, surface so as to deal with this paranormal threat...in kind.

New theory: The chanting. Since it was interrupted by Lindsey, that may explain why only one eye was glowing. Maybe it was intended to turn, eslave, and empower for the Bloodwatch's benefit.
Leave battle to the warriors or put a target on your rump.

New Theory: When Lin-Lin 'accidentally' smashed him with the chair, the resulting head trauma caused some sort of dormant coolness to become active.

Or Lin-Lin the Destroyer died but passed a portion of her overwhelming power to him.

I think I learnt a long time ago not to consider any surprising action beyond you two. Seriously, who the heck was expecting a blasted Vampire?! I probably could have guessed it would be a Nosferatu Vampire but introduce another brand of monster in the first season?

Lindsey seems to be just one of those awsome, ordinary characters who just ends up getting herself into and out of so much $#!t and doing it in the most awsome way possible for "a little girl" that you can't help but love and cheer for her. Scarlip called it right, she's not "JUST" anything, and credit to him for being the first adult to really see the major threat who's been pulling all the strings together. This throwaway character has actualy become the pivot point around which almost everything is revolving. Oh I know we've got MotherH, BigP, Chrissy and the whole thing over at the lighthouse going on with the shadowgirls but thats sort of revolving around Becka, Charon and Shadowchild. Lindsey's got Bloodwatch, EoD, Sawyer, Jackson, Paul, Fides and the Shadowgirls to an extent, all relying on her for direction and interaction between each other.

I seriously cannot imagine what the heck you could have possibly had planned for the season without her. My best guess is that Jackson was going to do make most of the discoveries and perform many of the mundane jobs that she's pulled off. Instead, he's been shafted so far to the sidelines by Lindsey that he didn't even show up in Issue #06.

Actually, whats this SECOND most popular character business? I'm struggling to work out who takes FIRST between Lindsey, Deep One Prime/Big Purple and the Shadowgirls. Unless the person you're planning to let die is outside one of those three, you're already planning to kill off a very significant character. Heck, even Chrissy is moving up the ranks and Merv has his own following of fishy sympathisers. I think we need a vote on this at some point 'cos it's gotta be bl**dy close.

P.S. I guess if Lindsey stays knocked out that she won't actually see Sawyer pull his awsomesauce out so he'll be able to keep it a secret.

P.P.S. THATS IT! Big Purple/Deep One Prime is doomed to die! Only characters with names ever survive. No name = Red Shirt waiting to happen .

I stand by my earlier statement that Lin-Lin has spin-off potential.

Everybody has to love her because here she is swinging away and she doesn't have a scrap of supernatural powers to throw around. And she's still swinging (Well sorta, I think she's going into a coma for a bit after that wall had a disagreement with her).

HAHA! Just how the heck did you end up with two side characters becoming more popular than the very characters the comic is named after?

Heck, I think they've almost had more screen time than our girls.

Hey, the comic seems to write itself at times.

It's kinda funny... It's about when I recieved the script for Issue #5 that I stopped and asked D.Rod "You know, Charon's hasn't done dick this entire miniseries except for give birth, get drunk, get arrested and get knocked out. Becka's done all the leg work."

David was like "That's right. Becka's the motherf**kin' princess!"

It's come a long way since the days of "Threshold"

The bad news: tomorrow is Monday, and I have to go to work and face the aftermath of Friday's disaster.

The good news: tomorrow we (hopefully) don't end this scene on a cliffhanger!

I'll give you a bit of comfort... Tomorrow we actually DO conclude this scene. (It's also the halfway point in the issue.)

Ya know what we need?

Lindsey "Lin-Lin" Jun Yeoh FACEBOOK page. Could you imagine the updates she'd be making from her iPhone?

"Lindsey is sneaking out to a barn rave"
"Lindsey is booking a psych appointment after fighting fish monsters"
"Lindsey is hitting Wikipedia on this damn town"
"Lindsey is embarrasing herself in front of Innsmouth High's hottest Dad"
"Lindsey is reading Shadowgirl at the M.E. office"
"Lindsey is about to break into a place"
"Lindsey is waiting for help to 'unbrainwash' someone"
"Lindsey is sickened by some men's fassion sense"
"Lindsey is about to watch a $#!t head get knocked for six"
"Lindsey is gonna show what 'just a kid' can do"
"Lindsey is feeling like a vampire crunched her head into a wall"

Add a few photos taken from the camera phone here and there (just extracts from the pages) and you've got awsomesauce.

EDIT: Charles here. Dammit! I gotta keep better track of who I'm logged in as.
