Insider update/fides

Postby TM2 Dinobot on Tue Feb 12, 2008 12:13 am

Please tell me I'm not the only one that doesn't have a damned clue what this is. I feel like I'm stuck in a bad JJ Abrams script that I don't know how to write my way out of. I can't even get into the stupid thing. >.>

You're not the only one who doesn't get it, but you're part of a small club. As for 'like a J.J. Abrams' I honestly couldn't say. But I CAN say that this isn't that much diiferent than some of the launch stuff that White Wolf likes to do for thier games. See, as a web comic, this is overboard. As a print comic (Starweather) it's a bit much. But the dave's are launching an RPG this summer, and for a game launch, this ROCKS. Consider, it's an In Character forum for us to talk about the game in. There's an NPC, FROM THE BOOK to talk to. I mean, it's like having a Chat Room for StarWars with Lando Calrisian in it.

My only regret is that I don't know enough about teh game yet to properly set my character for the forums. I'd love to know if Misty and becca are unique, or if there are several different 'embued' individuals. and, what embues them....

Thats the perfect description of the insider. While this forum is OOC, the Insider is IC.

The story can continue without it but It's an extra tid bit of information to chase on the Mythmaker's universe and just some plain fun.

I'm definately thinking that there's more than just Fides on the Insider who's under the Dave's control. If we can pick who, they're probably unvieling some significant information.

Bounty hit it on the nail there.

We do have an RPG coming out, and I can tell you, this shit ties into it hardcore.

And Charles? What makes you think it's just me and Dave doing this here? :P

Even with the current username and password, logging in can be a pain.

I'm excited about the RPG so I'm pleased with the Innsmouth Insider. I have an idea for my character but I need to confirm one little piece of info before joining the paranoia. LOL

I like having the Insider around. It's just another look into this universe and I like poking around in it. As far as the loging goes, the only time I have trouble is when, I think, it's a high traffic time and several people are trying to access it at the same time. When that happens, we all get rejected. I'm usually in on the second try, though.

Here's the deal with the Insider from where I see it Dinobot. The sheer mass of information we have on this town and the backgrounds would take years and several series to flesh out. There is a small percentage of people who wants as much detail and information about the world as possible and we saw it as a good way to give that info and have updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays that people might find interesting.

It's not required reading, you don't need to read all of the Star Wars history and novels to enjoy to the movies, but the extra stuff is there for those that want it.

As for the login, Just please make sure it is ALL CAPS and that you have the current one. (It changes weekly) And it fights when more than one person is logging in at a time (Because there is only one login)

And finally, yes it has a lot to do with the RPG but I don't feel that providing background info is overkill for the Webcomic if people want it. (And I didn't expect though I am excited over the level of involvement that people are having over there!)

Oh, and The Dark Knight is doing a way better job at the viral thing than Abrams. (But D-Rod doesn't watch Lost or go see Cloverness) They will deliver a real newspaper to your house with secret info so that you can log in and find out stuff!! That shit's nuts!

So how do you find out what the weekly password/login is? I've never even seen the inside of this thing.
