If there's anyone in the states thinking of taking a trip to Australia. Now is the time. We're still in the warm months, the crash of our dollar means it's a cheap holiday and it hasn't crashed for long enough yet to send prices up.
Sydney is nice for the Opera house, Harbor bridge and a few other sight-seeing items, but I generally recommend Brisbane. Not just 'cos I live here, but it's warmer climate, It's got all the amusement parks (like Aussie World and Australia Zoo) plus you can take a trip out west to Emerald and Longreach if you're really up for checking out some of the outback with gemfields and old bushman's history.
I've been wanting to visit Australia again for sometime, specifically Sydney. I never had a chance to actually go to the Opera House, but I did get to see it from the ferry, and it was awesome to see. Toronga Zoo was just freakin' amazing, though I was a bit bummed that they had just recently disallowed holding the koala's, which I did totally understand why. I was just looking forward to it. Kinda funny... It was awesome when I visited there, as the U.S. Dollar was double that of the Aussie Currency, so it freakin' rocked. I was staying at a five star hotel for the price of a two.
Truth be told... I still often give serious consideration to moving there.
Duuu eeet!
