Well, we know the Shadowgirls here are made up of 3 women as is the trinity of women often referred to through ancient celtic religions and those even older than the celts.

Maid=Becka
Mother=Charon
Crone=Shadowchild
The trinity which show up in the Starkweather universe appear for a short time in THIS PAGE towards the end, where they almost cut the thread of the tapestry that binds the world together. On the cuflink of the one who holds the scissors can be seen a symbol known as the Triple Spiral or Triskele.
This symbol is not only associated strongly with the Celtic's feminine trinity or triple goddess, it actually pre-dates the celts to around the year 3,000 BC appearing on the famous Newgrange site where it marks some of the stones and the entrance.
According to Irish mythology, Newgrange was one of the sidhe, or fairy-mounds, where the Tuatha Dé Danann lived. It was built by the god Dagda, but his son Oengus later tricked him out of it. It is named for the goddess Boann, the mother of Aengus, who is also credited with the creation of the River Boyne. According to some versions of the story, the hero Cúchulainn was conceived there. However, most of the mythical cycles associated with Newgrange date from the Celtic era of Irish history and mythology. The monument was already in existence for well over 2,000 years before the Celtic era.
*meh* interesting stuff.
