Reviews!

Postby D-Rod on Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:56 pm

I have decided to create a dedicated thread for links to Shadowgirls reviews. Please let me know if you spot one. Here are our first two and they have been pretty favorable so far!

Chuck Moore of Comic Related called Shadowgirls, "one sharp looking new tale that's sure to build quite a following." and also says, "This ISN'T a fluff first issue that's all show and no payoff. This comic is packed with information and characters that feel genuine."

http://www.comicrelated.com/review/shadowgirls1.html

Bernie at Indie Pulp called Shadowgirls, "well executed and contemporary"
and especially noted the coloring. Saying "Reynolds does a great job with a clean, crisp palette and pushes the cinematic lighting for effect."

I will keep this updated as we get more. (Hopefully good ones!)

Hey all! Though it's not actually a review, we just named Shadowgirls our site of the month for October. The site (and cover to #2) will be featured graphically on our front page (right column) for all of October and on our links page for that same period.

Here's hoping the added exposure sends a few additional hits your way.

Cheers,
Chuck

Did you see the plug you guys got yesterday on Broken Frontier?

Another comic which has never failed to continuously catch my attention is Shadowgirls by Dave A. Rodriguez and Dave Reynolds. This doesn't surprise me - Rodriguez has already carved a name for himself through the comic Starkweather. And though I'm not entirely sure what's happening here - I'm anxious to find out. That's one sure sign of a strong webcomic.

You can check out the full page here.

Cheers,
Chuck

Thanks for the tip off Chuck!

And even better, we got a BIG write up today!

Rodriguez imbues a quirky sense of humor coupled with an ominous sense of all-importance surrounding Shadowgirls' characters and events, ensuring that, while we might not know exactly what’s happening, we certainly care for the outcome.

Hmm, a thread dedicated to his brilliance, a Doom icon, a growing ego... Nobody her on DRod's bad side. :p

Broken Frontier is doing their wrap up of webcomics finishing of their year. Here's what they had to say about us!

Shadowgirls continues to be one of the most provocative and powerful webcomics in the game. While the creators admit the “Gilmore Girls meets H.P. Lovecraft” logline rings true, the truth is there’s just nothing else like it on the Net. Period.

Since it hasn't appeared here yet, I thought I'd move the latest review link from the daily page to here for those keeping track.

Shadowgirls Podcast on Comic Related

I guess this counts as a review

DRod:
If you are interested in hearing D-Rod ramble for like 20 minutes about Shadowgirls and Starkweather and other such stuff, go check out Comic Related and their rather EXTENSIVE coverage of Starkweather Studios and their love of Shadowgirls.

PODCAST

And as a bonus…there’s an answer to a question floating around the site about a certain character. But you’ll have to listen to learn and that mean the Oppression Hammer comes down on anyone who gives it away.

Just a review by a 'Benita Story' on Johnny Saturn for Shadowgirls Tag Team Edition 1.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone noticed but the Wikipedia article on Shadowgirls has also been seriously updated.

AND one from Broken Frontier on the Shadowgirls Anniversary

PLUS even Comic Related covered the Shadowgirls Anniversary without us noticing.
