Shadowgirls

I figured this was delving a bit into the mysteries area so moved the topic here rather than crowd the episodes area. Actually, it states that this area is for SHADOWGIRLS mysteries, so I'm not really sure where the heck this should go. I guess we'll get another area, like the Starkweather one, sometime in the future.

From the Episodes area: Has anyone else had any luck finding out who the two other characters are from the Mythmakers Convention poster?

We've got a red-head with a streak of white hair from a scar, so I'm going to nickname her Scarlett Johansson until we get an official name (get it? Scar... Scarlet... The colour of her hair and the scar?... *sigh*).

Don't know about the other guy but the hat looks Jewish so I'll nickname him Woody Allen (get it? The stick? *sigh*)

Well, here's a list of interesting guys and gals from Judaism:
(I'll edit these as I read some more details)

Sarah: Wife of Abraham, progenitor to the people of Israel.
Rachel: Favoured wife of Jacob, mother of Joseph who's line will eventually fight the wars of Gog and Magog. Must read more on that.
Rebecca: Wife of Isaac, second matriarch to the Jewish people. She deceived her isaac into blessing Jacob rather than his eldest son. She is presumed to have died with her nurse, but this is speculation.
Joseph: The one we know. Haven't figured anything significant with him yet.
Eli: the name of a priest of Shiloh until the Ark of the Covenant was stolen, and one of the last Israelite Judges
Elkanah: the husband of Hannah, and the father of Samuel who was raised by Eli above.
Hannah: Childless, Eli blessed her to have a child when she promissed to give it to Eli to be raised. Samuel was the child.
Abigail: Wife of David and mother of Daniel, she is considered a prophetess.
Amoz: Father of the prophet Isaiah
Beeri: Father of the prophet Hosea and author fo the verses 19 and 20 of the 8th chapter of Isaiah.
Hilkiah: Discovered the lost book of Torah, the 5th of the "Five Books of Moses".
Buzi: was the mother of Ezekiel the priest and wife of Hilkiah.
Mordecai: He adopted the orphan Esther and gained a position in the royal court when she married king Ahasuerus. Note that his name means "servent of Marduk who is a Babylonian God.
Esther: Cousin and adopted daughter of Mordecai (above), she married the King of the Persians and saved the Jewish people from destruction.
Baruch: the scribe, disciple and friend of Jeremiah. He is sometimes equated with Zoroaster.

*groan* The problem here is that I'm following all this based on a bloody hat! Oh well, might learn something interesting anyway.

As a christian, I have very little Idea about any of these people but I'll start looking deeper into their stories and see if anything stands out. If anyone knows a link between Lovecraft and Judaism, PLEASE tell me.

They are both fictional.

GOG & MAGOG: Sometimes places, sometimes people.
Irish tradition: Works of Irish mythology, including the Lebor Gabála Érenn (the Book of Invasions), expand on the Genesis account of Magog as the son of Japheth and make him the ancestor to the Irish. His three sons were Baath, Jobhath, and Fathochta. Magog is regarded as the father of the Irish race, and the progenitor of the Scythians, as well as of numerous other races across Europe and Central Asia.

Partholon, leader of the first group to colonize Ireland after the Deluge, was a descendant of Magog. The Milesians, or people of the 5th invasion of Ireland, were also descendants of Magog. (Wikipedia)

As Celts: Some legends of Hungarians and certain Celtic peoples say they are descendants of Magog. Poseidonius, for example, mentions that the Cimmerians, considered to be the original ancestors in Celtic traditions, were derived from gug and guas. In Irish tradition, Magog was supposed to have had a grandchild called Heber, who spread throughout the Mediterranean. The result is that Gog — the land of the four corners of the world – has also been identified as lands somewhere in the oceans surrounding the Old World, i.e., the New World. (Wikipedia)


MARDUK: (see Mordecai above)
VERY interesting here. MARDUK is not only a Babylonian god but through the Simon Necronomicon, he is identified as a significant Elder God in the Cthulhu mythology. However the Simon Necronomicron is controvertial and not by Lovecraft. i.e. my link is that because of a guy's hat, I've found the story of Mordecai who's name can mean Servant of Marduk, who is a Babylonian God, who is an Eldar God in the Simon Necronomicron which is not written by Lovecraft.


MISS JOHANSSON:
What if we presume she had the Chrysalis of a Great Old One or an Elder God in her skull and had it removed? That could leave a scar.

Well, if you want obscure Biblical characters, there's Enoch, Methuselah's father. He never died. He walked with God, he was, and then was not, because God took him. So Enoch could show up anytime because God brought him back. What would a person be like after a few thousand years in the company of God? And of course, there is Methuselah himself. Although he died, he has the distinction of being the longest lived person in the Bible.

And if, by Joseph, you mean the Joseph who was sold into slavery by his brothers, rose from slavery to second in command of all Egypt by interpreting the pharoahs dreams, and brought the Jewish people to Egypt during the great famine foretold by those same dreams, then I think we can find a few things on him. If you mean Joseph, the (step) father of Jesus, well, that is probably what makes him significant.

I doubt there are many historians that would consider the entire Bible fictional, or should I say they wouldn't consider the Bible entirely fictional. They might consider it more the literary equivalent of a docudrama.

But I myself do consider it Gods word. Just so we're clear.

Yeah, I didn't want to offend anyone. Me myself I am, as you might have guessed, not very religious. I am fine with religion as a whole. Just extremist fanatics make me want to become something of a nazi dictator . . . crap I digress.

I don't know about Joseph, I think there's lots of room for conjecture.

But that aside, the guy with the hat and the cane makes me think of the scary German dude from Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark. I'm thinking high up in the EOD or Bloodwatch. The lady in green and black looks like Rogue from the X-Men.

As an aside, Tiamat is the 5 headed dragon goddess. In dragonlance she is "Tahkisis"

By the way, I always thought the "BaWHOOMPH!" sound effect made when Venger fires his firebolt was the coolest sound ever. (Yeah, I know... It's Megatron's fusion cannon too.)

I never did watch that entire show, but it looked pretty good.
