Shadowgirls Halloween Contest!

Postby D-Rod on Sun Oct 07, 2007 11:00 pm

This is the forum where you can list your ideas for what Charon should wear for Halloween and your chance to win some sweet original art. Here are the official rules for the contest.

1. You must be a registered member of the forum with a listed e-mail address.

2. Please only make one suggestion per post. It will make it easier for us to collate the information. :)

3. For every suggestion you also need to leave a reason for that suggestion. (So please don't spam our forum with a list of your favorite superheroes hoping we'll pick one of them.) We'll be choosing our top five based on both the best idea and the best reasoning behind it.

4. All posts must be entered by midnight EST on Oct. 14, 2007, on the Web site forum.

5. More rules as we decide they are necessary.

6 GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

Joan of Arc.

From what I've been able to gather, Joan of Arc was one of those people who just didn't give up, but still got screwed in the end. In her devotion to God and to the Crown, I doubt that even if she knew what was going to happen to her that she would have retreated. Charon doesn't seem the type to back down.

I'm also taking into account that Charon is religious as well, unless her necklace is only a decoration or keepsake.
98% of people today have a "98% of people" thingy in their sig. If you're part of the 2% who don't, copy and paste this into your sig. Seriously.

There are SO many obvious possibilities...

Postby KingOfFools on Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:10 am

I think I'm going to make my official suggestion an obscure one.
Jenny, from the old Bucky O'Hare cartoon.

Phenomenal powers that nobody else could know about? Yeah, I think she could get behind that. Plus, you know, a catgirl Charon? Mrrrowr!

I may toss off a couple of more obvious choices later on, if nobody else has yet.
But for now, to the Bedmobile!

First idea:

Hester Prynne from the Scarlet Letter. Simple Puritan costume with the red 'A' on it.

Charon has gone through the same ordeal. She comes back pregnant with a bastard child, is ridiculed by everyone she knows, and is struggling to make a new, better life for herself and her child.

Charon also doesn't seem too bothered to tell her story, so I think a Scarlet Letter costume would seem like telling everyone "Are you guys still stuck in this old way of thinking?"

I would have to say Pirate.

1) Charon would look great in a pirate costume. The red bandana, tight black pants, nice high boots.

2) Pirates are fun! People try and dress up as specific people on Haloween, which is rather wierd. You're supposed to be a different person, but not a different person who exists!

3) She would look completley natural with a bottle of grog in one hand, and threatening people with a cutlass in the other.

She Can Be My Cowgirl

Postby Duggatunn on Mon Oct 08, 2007 7:19 am

Specifically, Ellen "The Lady" from The Quick and the Dead. Not only would she look great in chaps and a duster (hat tip to Frank's pirate above), but she totally has Sharon Stone's seething elemental rage covered. Blonde hair optional.
Seems to be a deep instinct in human beings for making everything compulsory that isn't forbidden.

Charon's Halloween Costume

Postby katyas on Mon Oct 08, 2007 8:01 am

In the words of Buffy, the vampire slayer, "Halloween is come as you aren't night." Charon should dress as a 1950's style housewife - complete with apron and pearls. Perfect, yes?

My vote

A succubus from Dungeon Keeper 2.

Besides being a ridiculously fun game, I think the theme would be right up Charon's alley. Very S&M

Costume Suggestion

Postby jimmylike on Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:15 am

I'm kind of partial to Lady Death, and of course her daughter could show up as Evil Ernie. I'm assuming that the two would show up together. The look seems to suit her, as it's almost like a photo negative. Lady Death has white skin and hair, Charon has black hair and when she changes, her skin is close to black.

Another idea

Postby jimmylike on Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:25 am

You could play off of her name-sake, Charon, (the ferryman of the river stix). If she were involved in some form of covert entrance, her hooded cape could be something she improvised to gain anoymous entry to the party, and she could throw her hood back to reveal her face as soon as she was inside. Since she's not exceedingly rich this might be a more realistic costume for her to pull off.

hmm halloween

Postby TallicaStew on Mon Oct 08, 2007 3:22 pm

My 1st suggestion would be Rayne-from Bloodrayne. With or without blades.
Reasons
1. Any of Raynes outfits are excellent for a tough mamma like Charon (especially the evening dress from bloodrayne 2 if she wanted to crash somewhere fancy-in that case blades would help ID the costume but they wouldn't Have to be full size)
2. Rayne is a monster who hunts other monsters-not because she really likes humans but because the other creatures piss her off
3. Like Charon, Rayne really didn't ask for her gifts & differences but she has accepted them and makes use of them for her own goals.
4. Rayne & Charon have simular personalities-they're sultry & violent and like slaking their lusts (although in Raynes case that envolves draining the blood of here opponents)

My secund suggestion would be the warrior form of Jubei-chan, a fun anime
Image

reasons:
1. Fully covering costume which exceeds the "nothing ridiculous" requirement.
2. She carries a sword.
3. It's the female form of the great Yagu Jubei- the most storied samuria in japanese history & one of the great Sonny Chiba's best recuring roles.
4. Charon would look great in a pink heart eyepatch.
5. She's a hero.
6. Becka's an Anime fan so she could be blamed for the costume idea if Charon doesn't like it(though I don't think she'll say no to a sword)
