Tales From Innsmouth WRITING CONTEST!

Bugger. Means I have to go to more effort 'cos with DRey we already have an Idea of how he'd draw a scene, based on what we've seen in the comic, so we can afford some assumptions. But I was wondering to myself, how he'd manage to write the next season AND the T.F.I short stories.

Is is one artist for TFI or multiple?... If it's multiple, I think you guys must have been way too inspired by Batman: Gotham Knight and the Animatrix *lol*

Thanks for the clarification.

Just to make sure I am understanding this correctly. Comic scripts seem to be quite a bit like play scripts, correct? Except you divide them into specific pages and panels too.

Perhaps, pretty please, once the winner is picked, could all the other, er, nonwinning, entries text-drafts be posted somewhere too? Of course the winner will be a super treat to read, but I'd still love to read ALL of the story ideas fans have!

Ye Gods... awkward, pain-in-the-ass dialogue fixed, finally.

Packing away and sleeping on it now... look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow. Stephen King be damned, I can get another draft out of this ;)

What a great contest! Thanks for offering this to us "wannabes". I've already spent more hours at work than I should on my script. Needs a bit of tightening, then... hopefully you guys will enjoy it.

What format should the submissions be in?

My story does not use any Shadowgirls characters (except monsters)...is that acceptable? (Uses characters from public domain stories which are available at Project Gutenberg)

(related) My story takes place around 100 years ago...is that acceptable?

My story uses some magic (a-la John Constantine)...is that acceptable?

Word or .rtf file is fine.

And it seems acceptable so far. We'll let you know if its out of bounds.

Very cool. I might just have enough time to put something together, as long as the RPG fourms stay down just a little bit longer :P . Seriously, good luck to all, and hope this all comes through.

Great, but can you please explain more? Will you tell me if it's out of bounds after I submit it or from the descriptions I gave you?

If there's a problem with it, but we like it, we'll work with you to make it fit. But if it doesn't fit and it's not what we're looking for, then it won't matter too much will it?

Just send it when it's done.

Dave, you fill me with faith for my submission (read that as almighty fear) - hope it wasn't too Travelling Pants for you... I'm already looking over my shoulder for contract killers ;)

Nope! Not a one! Unless you count a couple of metaphorical ones ;)

I'll admit though that I had an idea for another story that would be neat while having a conversation with a buddy last night, one that would be forced to begin with an explosion - a big one, too! I've been scribbling that one down, and while I like it, I like it less at this moment than the first... I think the first one is more a story I would love to see told (though as to whether I have the chops to tell it is another thing). So I've had a go.

I'm only scared of D-Rey's hitmen... the mooks you sent got sloppy, and are currently tied up downstairs with their eyes pinned open watching an endless loop of Steel Magnolias - The Director's Cut intercut randomly with subliminal frames of naked pictures of Phyllis Diller, an autographed picture of Debbie Gibson wearing that ridiculous hat and the poster for the "classic" movie Gigli. If they survive the night I'll send them back so you can pay their therapy bills... or make them watch Gigli.

Those guys that tortured The Question in Justice League Unlimited were amateurs...
