Well we'll read it and see if it stands on its own. It doesn't have to be canon.

It can be like that weird Batman Beyond coda to JLU

yeah, I probably should have said "appears to be age 30" for a more accurate description.

MONDO KANE: There you go! A non-canon story based in the Mythmaker's Universe (like there aren't enough of those in the Marvel and DC universe anyway).

Have a go at your revised story as well, but I reckon you should consider it a second submission of a different story and the DR's can judge on both.

*groan* Well, I got fairly slow progress on my own story compared to what I managed with my co-written ones, but the layout is there so I've just got to flesh it out now and figure out how I can get a worthwhile message in there with only 8 pages.

*meh* I can always resort to carnage with no good lesson for the reader to walke away with ::twisted::

GAH! Inara's already got her latest draft back to me.

Damn that girl is fast. I think she's a teacher and since my wife studied to become one, I know how fast they can get this stuff done.

Fortunately she thinks we're pretty much finished so hopefully I can just review it and then we'll pass it on to editors/reviewers to see if we've missed anything.

Woot! I might actually get one of these in. I think I'll get Jacobus' in as well but my own is looking edgy (not 'cos o the other commitments, but 'cos of my difficulty in fleshing it out correctly).

Sorry, Charles. I'm used to working on a short deadline with twenty screaming kids in the background. This time, I was working with a slightly longer deadline and no screaming kids. Much easier. :)

I'll try to be slower next time. ;)

WOW! Just had a massive run on my co-written script with Inara. Added and changed heaps. Hopefully she won'd mind all of it but we've got the old coppies, so it can always be changed back.

Some of the work was just making sure it could stand alone (naming characters through dialogue so people know who they are rather than relying on them to know the characters from the existing comic). As before, I'll be passing this story off to a friend of mine who has good literary skills but no clue about shadowgirls, so hopefully he'll be able to let us know if there's anything confusing that a first-time reader wouldn't get.

Now to work on the story with Jacobus. I'm really convinced I won't get my own in now, but I'll put a little work into it and no matter how crap it is, I'll hand in what I've got by midnight August 16.

Good luck to everyone else, fighting to make the deadline.

WOOT! Inara loved the changes I've made. She's away for the day so won't have much of a chance to review and adjust it herself, but she thinks it's pretty much there.

I've e-mailed it to two editors, one who's never read the comic and one who's well versed with it (so remember to read your flamin' e-mail Mondo Kane!) *LOL*.

Also got another page of my story with Jacobus fleshed out so I'm still confident that I can get it complete in time, but not sure how much time the editors will have to review it.

QUESTION! Just to double check this but the end date for submissions is Saturday August 16th Midnight (time the comic posts) leading into Sunday (i.e. it's not midnight, Saturday morning but Saturday night)?

WAAAHOOO!

Story with Jacobus is complete and off to the editors. (Check your e-mails guys).

The story feels a bit crowded (7-8 panels for EVERY page) but I guess if it wins, we'll be going over it with the Daves to mould it into something workable.

Thanks everyone for your help in these stories. (Big thanks to Mondo Kane for editing, then I couldn't return the favour nearly as well on his story).

Hopefully I'm correct that the deadline is Saturday night and not Saturday morning (midnight). I'm away from home so my internet access it limited, but I'l still be able to read the notes from my editors and submit the stories in time.

Good-luck to all the other story writers out there!

Considering that GenCon is going on, I'm sure there can be an extention for the entire weekend.

YES! I'd done the usual charlie thing of leaving my own comic script back home on a USB stick. So I was going to miss out on being able to submit it.

With the extention to Sunday night, I might have a chance now (although I think I'll hand the other two in by the due date/time).

I might use the extra time to also give Mondo Kane's script a better run through.

Thanks Daves!

Well thats it!

They're in.

I haven't heard back from my co-writers and a couple of my editors but I won't get another chance before the original deadline to submit them.

I guess if I do hear back, I'll make any necessary changes and re-submit.

Actually, one more day's grace is a saviour for my entry... due to a rum-enduced (ahem) incident last night I'm a little behind, but I'm working on it :)

Be in in a few hours most likely... I feel like a good all-nighter ;)

Done. *laughs* Never written in comic script before, so it was interesting.

Best of luck everyone! I look forward to reading the winning entry. :D

ANNNNND FINISH!

Got some wonderful feedback from my editors on my story with Jacobus. Made a heap of changes and put in the effort to review myself (finding a heap of spelling errors and flow problems) but It's submitted now and thats the deadline passing right about now.

Never managed to find the time to submit my own story but I had extreme difficulties with it anyway.

I'm having a chat with Mondo Kane and he's going to give me a hand with it, making him a co-writer. Competitions over, but I'd still like to get this one off my chest and heck, I had a lot of fun writing the others, regardless of the competition.

Just a question to the Daves: How many eligible scripts did you end up with?
